The date of March 27 was not chosen by chance: it was on this day in 1811 that the internal guard of the Russian Empire, the predecessor of the modern troops of the Russian Guard, was established by decree of Emperor Alexander I.
Celebration Traditions
Award Ceremonies. On this day, distinguished employees and servicemen of the Russian Guard receive state awards, certificates of honor and gratitude.
Solemn meetings. Official events dedicated to the history and achievements of the service are held in the units of the Russian Guard.
Laying of flowers. Memorial events are held at monuments and memorials to fallen employees.
Demonstration of equipment and machinery. Some cities host exhibitions where citizens can see the equipment and gear used by the Russian National Guard.
